Strategic Sourcing Specialist – Direct Materials

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting an experienced Strategic Sourcing Specialist for a direct-hire opportunity with a global manufacturer of highly engineered industrial equipment.
This position will develop and execute sourcing strategies for critical components used in a complex manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience sourcing direct materials such as hydraulic and fluid-power components, engines, transmissions, powertrain systems, mechanical assemblies, fabricated parts, or other engineered components.
This is a strategic role for someone who can look beyond purchase price, evaluate total cost of ownership, strengthen supplier performance, reduce supply-chain risk, and collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing leadership.
What You’ll Do

Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned direct-material categories

Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop domestic and international suppliers

Source engineered components, mechanical systems, and production materials

Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities to reduce total cost

Lead supplier negotiations involving pricing, capacity, lead times, quality, service, and contractual terms

Evaluate supplier capabilities, capacity, financial stability, and operational risk

Monitor market conditions, emerging technologies, and changes within the supplier base

Manage supplier performance reviews and corrective-action initiatives

Improve supply continuity, inventory performance, and overall supplier reliability

Ensure suppliers comply with applicable contracts, confidentiality requirements, trade regulations, procurement policies, and ethical standards

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, and finance

Use ERP/MRP data and market intelligence to support sourcing decisions

Work independently while managing multiple sourcing projects and priorities
What We’re Looking For
-
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related discipline
-
At least five years of direct-material sourcing, strategic procurement, commodity management, or supplier-management experience

Experience supporting a manufacturing, OEM, heavy-equipment, automotive, aerospace, industrial, or similarly complex production environment

Experience sourcing hydraulic components, engines, transmissions, powertrain systems, mechanical assemblies, or related engineered products is highly desirable

Demonstrated success negotiating supplier contracts and complex commercial agreements

Strong understanding of cost analysis, total cost of ownership, inventory planning, supplier capacity, and risk mitigation

Working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills

Ability to work successfully with technical and nontechnical stakeholders

Ability to work in the United States indefinitely without current or future employer sponsorship

Schedule and Location
This is a full-time, in-person position located in Alachua, Florida. Remote work is not available for this role.
