Human Resources Coordinator/Generalist

Hawthorne Area, FL | On-site | Direct Hire

Salary: $50,000–$60,000 per year, based on experience

 

An established agricultural organization in the Hawthorne area is seeking a highly organized, technology-savvy Human Resources Coordinator/Generalist. This is a hands-on role supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, scheduling, compliance, training and day-to-day business administration.

 

The successful candidate will balance empathy and professionalism with the practical needs of a fast-moving, noncorporate work environment. This position works closely with ownership, managers and a diverse hourly workforce.

Schedule

  • Full-time, approximately 40–45 hours per week
  • Primarily Monday through Friday
  • Must be available for early on-site morning meetings
  • Typical start time is approximately 7:00–7:30 a.m., with some seasonal variation
  • Occasional Saturdays, evenings or communication outside traditional office hours may be required

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage job postings and assist with full-cycle recruiting
  • Review applications and conduct candidate screening interviews
  • Coordinate interviews, reference checks and background screenings
  • Complete new-hire paperwork, orientation and onboarding
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records
  • Support employees and managers with workplace questions and concerns
  • Help de-escalate conflicts and facilitate practical resolutions
  • Coordinate employee training, reviews and performance documentation
  • Track schedules, attendance, time-off requests and staffing needs
  • Verify employee hours and prepare information for payroll
  • Prepare reports regarding overtime, attendance and labor costs
  • Help maintain compliance with applicable employment, workers’ compensation and workforce regulations
  • Assist with seasonal workforce documentation and coordination
  • Maintain calendars, meeting notes, deadlines and process documentation
  • Provide general office and administrative support as needed
  • Assist management with special projects and operational priorities

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced administrative and computer proficiency
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to use formulas and pivot tables or demonstrate the ability to learn them quickly
  • Fast and accurate typing and data-entry skills
  • Ability to learn new software and use modern productivity and AI tools
  • Previous recruiting, interviewing, HR or related leadership experience
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail and follow-through
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage confidential personnel and financial information
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize competing responsibilities
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check

Highly Preferred Qualifications

Competitive candidates will possess at least four of the following:

  • Bilingual Spanish-English communication skills
  • Previous HR and employee-relations experience
  • Recruiting and interviewing experience
  • Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, trades, shipping or another environment employing a diverse hourly workforce
  • Four-year college degree

A related degree, SHRM certification or other formal HR education is preferred for candidates seeking compensation near the top of the range.

Physical and Workplace Requirements

This is an on-site position in a casual, nontraditional work environment. Candidates must be comfortable working around active agricultural operations and occasionally participating in outdoor meetings or operational activities.

The position requires the ability to:

  • Climb stairs
  • Walk on uneven outdoor surfaces
  • Work around varying weather conditions when necessary
  • Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
