Job Full Description

Express Employment is seeking a scalehouse supervisor for the landfill.  Job duties include:

  • Lead, support, and develop scalehouse operators by providing hands-on guidance, regular coaching, and performance feedback to foster growth and ensure operational excellence
  • Oversee the accurate handling, processing, and recording of payment and cash transactions in accordance with policies, to include daily deposits
  • Oversee the inspection, evaluation, estimation, and admittance of waste entering the landfill in accordance with landfill guidelines
  • Troubleshoot ticket transaction discrepancies using scalehouse software program
  • Handle customer inquiries and interactions by providing exceptional customer service
  • Create schedules for scalehouse operators, track time and approve timecards, coordinate vacation schedules and leave coverage
  • Assist with coverage, technical issues, and questions that require guidance, working overtime as needed
  • Perform scalehouse operator duties as needed
  • Maintain an inventory list of supplies needed for the scale house operations
  • Train new and existing scalehouse employees
  • Ensure safety for landfill customers and scalehouse operators
  • Conduct formal employee performance evaluations
  • Conduct individual or team meetings, and contribute to department meetings on matters related to scalehouse operations
  • Assist in creating and implementing standard operating procedures
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions including kiosks, scales, gate operators, and computers
  • Apply and communicate administrative policy, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent, compliant, timely, and accurate work
  • Assist with updating and administering procedure changes as necessary
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages team collaboration, professional development, and embodies the culture of the landfill mission
  • Coordinate and track scale maintenance and quarterly calibrations
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring employees

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures
  • Knowledge of basic math, general business arithmetic and transactions
  • Ability to learn Federal, State, and County laws and regulations pertaining to the landfill operations
  • Skill in communicating with culturally diverse populations
  • Ability to operate a computer and general office equipment, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to attend to customer needs and provide good customer service under stressful situations
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify problem areas, and recommend solutions
  • Ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish division and department goals
  • Ability to collect, handle, and account for money
  • Ability to maintain productivity and accuracy during high traffic conditions
  • Ability to accurately calculate weight and calculate payments
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures
  • Ability to plan and organize work
  • Ability to coach and develop employees
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

 

Other details:

  • Ability to work some holidays and most Saturdays
  • Work is performed inside and outside in areas that are subject to changing climatic conditions and in inclement weather in open areas
  • Work is performed in an office setting and requires sitting or standing at a desk for long periods of time
  • Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment when handling waste and responding to spills, accidents, or incidents
  • Schedule is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 7am-6pm, and will also include one or two days in the beginning of the week
  • Pay rate is up to $28/hr. to start.
  • Position is temp to hire
