Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position Summary
Local company is seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy construction equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, diagnosing issues, and providing hands-on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs both in the shop and on job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs to equipment.
- Execute planned preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Operate heavy construction equipment to identify, diagnose, and repair reported problems.
- Test and evaluate equipment to assess damage, wear, and functionality.
- Conduct periodic light welding on equipment repairs as needed.
- Assist with facility maintenance and shop repairs as required.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Travel to job sites for equipment repair or to assist with job setup as needed.
- Work overtime as assigned to meet operational needs.
- Complete all assigned work efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with company policies.
- Perform job duties safely and in a manner that does not pose a risk to self or others.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
- Walk on uneven surfaces and stand for long periods on hard surfaces.
- Climb stairs and ladders; bend, kneel, and reach as required for repairs.
- Perform tasks in outdoor environments and in all weather conditions.
- Lift, move, or manipulate heavy parts and tools as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to operate heavy construction equipment for testing and diagnostics.
- Welding skills (basic/repair welding experience preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Flexibility to work overtime and adapt to changing work demands.
