Job Title: CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist – Rapid Prototyping Machine Shop
Location: IN Space
Start Date: April/May 2025
Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist to join our rapid prototyping machine shop. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce high-precision components from materials such as stainless steel, copper, aluminum, and high nickel alloys. The ideal candidate will possess strong blueprint reading skills, a deep understanding of machining operations, and the ability to work eUiciently in a fast-paced prototyping environment. Key Responsibilities:
? Set up and operate CNC machines for milling and turning operations, including 5- axis machining.
? Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models.
? Create CAM programs to support a variety of machining tasks.
? Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for each job.
? Estimate machining time and equipment requirements.
? Load materials and monitor machine performance to ensure quality output.
? Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
? Make necessary machine adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality.
? Perform routine maintenance to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
? Troubleshoot mechanical issues and resolve production challenges as they arise.
Required Qualifications:
? Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models.
? Strong grasp of basic math and measurement principles.
? Experience programming CNC machines using G-code or similar languages.
? Familiarity with CNC tooling setup and machining operations.
? Skilled in using precision measuring equipment.
? Experience machining steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
? Comfortable working with a variety of tools and heavy machinery.
Preferred Qualifications:
? Experience machining high nickel alloys and copper alloys.
? Knowledge of post-machining of additively manufactured parts.
? Proficiency in CAM programming using ESPRIT.
? Ability to edit G-code.
? Familiarity with manual mills and lathes.
? Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate eUectively.
