Medicaid/HIP Eligibility Specialist (On-Site)
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM | Lafayette, IN
Pay: Up to $22/hour, based on experience
Position Overview:
A hospital in the Lafayette area is seeking an Eligibility Specialist to help patients apply for financial assistance programs like Medicaid, HIP, and the Marketplace. This role involves in-person screenings, application support, and ongoing follow-up with state agencies. Ideal for someone who’s organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with patients in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Review self-pay accounts to identify possible eligibility for Medicaid, HIP, Marketplace coverage, or charity care.

Conduct face-to-face screenings with patients or their families during hospital stays; follow up by phone after discharge.

Guide patients through applications and gather necessary documentation.

Track case progress with the state (FSSA) and update internal systems.

Maintain professional communication with patients, hospital staff, and your internal team.

Meet performance goals for screenings, applications, and approvals.
Schedule & Work Environment:

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Work is on-site at a hospital facility. Hybrid schedule may be considered depending on client needs.

Regular standing, walking, and use of office equipment required.
Qualifications:
Required:
-
High school diploma or GED.

Must become a Licensed Indiana Navigator within 90 days of hire.

At least 1 year of administrative, clerical, or patient-facing experience.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Excellent follow-up, communication, and time management skills.
Preferred:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Experience with Medicaid/HIP or other government benefit programs.

Familiarity with hospital billing or patient financial systems.
