Our client in Cedar Rapids, IA is looking for a Commercial Furniture Service Technician!
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated, professional, and reliable Service Technician to join our team. This role will involve maintaining over $2 million in recently installed furniture, performing ongoing warranty and repair work, and ensuring outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate is self-driven, detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and excels in client-facing environments. You will play a critical role in sustaining a high-profile client account and ensuring all service needs are addressed efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site repairs and maintenance of commercial furniture, including recliners and other patient-care items.
- Schedule and respond to service and warranty requests.
- Order and track replacement parts, including processing purchase orders.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical or cosmetic furniture issues.
- Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and internal teams via email and phone.
- Coordinate and document all service incidents through proper software tools and maintain detailed records for billing and follow-up.
- Deliver and demonstrate repaired or replacement items as needed.
- Work directly from manufacturer websites to troubleshoot and order required components.
- Track job statuses to ensure timely completion and customer satisfaction.
- Diagnosing and repairing furniture-related issues (mechanical or structural).
- Receiving and shipping warranty and replacement parts.
- Creating service incident invoices and tracking labor and materials.
- Cleaning and organizing service workspace and company fleet vehicles.
- Supporting warehouse duties as needed (kitting, prep, storage, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Professional appearance and conduct; strong communication skills.
- Self-motivated and accountable with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable handling a high volume of emails and service scheduling.
- Technically proficient, especially in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams).
- Able to navigate manufacturer support sites and process warranty claims.
- Customer-focused and experienced in high-stakes, client-facing roles.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant service/repair experience.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Strong reading, writing, and math skills.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- This role requires moderate physical activity, including lifting, bending, standing, and kneeling. Regular use of hand tools and computers is expected. The work environment is generally indoors with moderate noise, occasionally requiring the use of warehouse equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.

- Full-time position
- Based out of Cedar Rapids, with daily travel to North Liberty
