Our client in Cedar Rapids, IA is looking for a CDL A Driver with Manual/Standard Transmission experience!
Position Summary: Join a well-established, locally owned recycling company dedicated to environmental sustainability, safety, and exceptional service. This role is responsible for transporting scrap metal and recyclable materials between customer locations and the Cedar Rapids facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of Class A vehicles with manual transmissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class A trucks with manual/standard transmissions for local pickup and delivery routes.
- Transport scrap metal and recyclable materials between customer sites, industrial partners, and the main yard.
- Conduct complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT and company standards.
- Properly secure all loads and verify compliance with safety and weight regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, including mileage, delivery logs, and documentation for materials transported.
- Assist yard staff with loading and unloading materials when required, using proper lifting and safety techniques.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, customers, and yard leadership to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Follow all company safety policies and participate in ongoing safety training and compliance initiatives.
- Report vehicle issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A CDL license.
- Proven ability to operate manual/standard transmission trucks (required).
- Minimum of 3 years of safe, verifiable CDL driving experience.
- Clean driving record with strong attention to safety and compliance.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, safe hauling practices, and basic vehicle maintenance.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-service-focused attitude.
Hours:
- Full-time position (40–50 hours per week).
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Occasional overtime may be available based on workload or customer demand.
Pay:
- $24–$28 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.
- Overtime pay available when applicable.
