Our client in Cedar Rapids is looking for a 1st Shift Recycling Line Sorter!!
Job Summary:
The Line Sorter will be responsible for efficiently and safely processing incoming recyclable materials to ensure outbound commodities are ready for sale to brokers or mills.
General Duties:
- Sort and separate recyclable materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper) from incoming waste.
- Deposit recoverable materials into the appropriate chute in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist fellow sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergency situations.
- Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove any items that do not meet standards.
- Communicate with equipment operators about special waste or loads that require extra attention.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to work in hot and cold conditions.
Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 6:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Occasional Saturday: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
Pay:
- $15.00/hour
- Pay increases to $16.50/hour once hired on!
