Since 1983, Express Employment Professionals has been helping people find work. We currently have a Business Developer/Outside Sales Representative position opening available at our East Des Moines Location location. Join our team and help put a million people to work annually!

As a Business Developer, you will work within a defined territory connecting and learning about local businesses and their hiring needs, and present Express product offerings as solutions. The main goal of the Business Developer is to help companies understand how Express can help them in the areas of employment, leadership, and human resources. This role will prospect for new business and call on an existing book of business in a sales capacity.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of successful B2B outside sales experience, preferably in the staffing, recruiting, or HR solutions industry.
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong prospecting and cold-calling skills with the ability to build and maintain a solid pipeline.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to present staffing solutions and close deals with business owners, hiring managers, and HR leaders.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Bullhorn) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of local labor market and workforce trends is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within a defined territory.
  • Schedule and conduct in-person client visits to understand business needs and present staffing solutions.
  • Collaborate with recruiting teams to ensure fulfillment of client staffing needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of sales activities, prospects, and client interactions.
  • Represent the company at networking events, job fairs, and community functions.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel throughout assigned territory (mostly local).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be goal-driven, self-motivated, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
