Tool & Die Repair Technician – 3 Openings (1st, 2nd & 3rd Shift)
Location: St. Joseph, MI
Pay Range: $22 – $30 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary
We are currently hiring three Tool & Die Repair Technicians, with one opening available on each shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). This role is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of aluminum die cast dies and related production tooling. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, welding experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, quality, and production teams.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Tool & Die trade
- Experience repairing aluminum die cast dies
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications
- Strong knowledge of die cast dies and trim dies, including proper assembly and reassembly
- Welding experience (stick welding required)
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain aluminum die cast dies and all production tooling
- Troubleshoot tooling issues to support production uptime
- Collaborate with engineers and team members on new tooling designs
- Remove broken cores, bolts, punches, ejector pins, and related components
- Safely operate mills, drills, lathes, welders, and grinders
- Perform preventative maintenance on tooling and equipment
- Work closely with the Quality Department to ensure customer satisfaction
- Comply with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and statutory requirements
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency in welding techniques, including stick welding
- Knowledge of low-voltage systems and hydraulics
- Field service experience for tooling maintenance and repair
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of logic controllers
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments for accurate fabrication
