Patient Account Representative – Medical Collections – St. Charles, MO
Job Summary
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and professional Patient Account Representative for a healthcare billing and medical collections opportunity in St. Charles, MO. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in collections, insurance, call center operations, or healthcare revenue cycle management who are looking for steady, full-time employment with long-term potential.
As a Patient Account Representative, you will be responsible for managing patient account balances, educating patients on billing and insurance processes, and ensuring compliance with all federal regulations including FDCPA, FCRA, and HIPAA.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Manage and resolve patient account balances by reviewing work queues and account histories
• Contact patients and guarantors to discuss outstanding balances
• Answer billing and insurance-related questions professionally and accurately
• Process payments within client systems and maintain detailed account notes
• Educate patients on healthcare billing and insurance processes
• Negotiate and monitor payment plans
• Coordinate with insurance companies, third parties, and client representatives to maximize account recovery
• Research and verify insurance eligibility and coverage
• Perform skip tracing when necessary
• Gather and review account documentation to support insurance filings or potential litigation
• Ensure strict compliance with FDCPA, FCRA, and HIPAA regulations
Requirements
• High School Diploma required
• Two years of collections and/or insurance experience preferred
• Experience in call center, insurance, collections, or healthcare revenue cycle preferred
• College-level coursework in insurance, medical coding, or healthcare billing preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent phone etiquette and professionalism
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
• Dependable attendance and ability to meet performance goals
