A local company in Big Sky is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Controller / Operations Administrator to take ownership of their financial systems and internal operations.


Position Overview

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and wants to build efficient systems from the ground up. The Controller / Operations Administrator will manage the company’s finances, oversee day-to-day financial operations, and streamline administrative workflows.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Oversight (Controller Duties):

  • Manage all aspects of business finances, including cash flow, budgeting, and financial planning

  • Develop and maintain internal systems for Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Track revenue, expenses, and financial KPIs to provide regular reports to leadership

  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and collections

  • Maintain compliance with financial regulations and tax requirements

System Development & Process Improvement:

  • Build and implement a scalable, in-house AR/AP tracking system tailored to business needs

  • Develop and document financial and operational workflows and internal controls

  • Identify areas for efficiency improvements and lead process optimization initiatives

Vendor and Operations Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all vendor relationships

  • Review, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts and billing

  • Ensure timely payments and maintain accurate records of vendor accounts

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth daily operations


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (CPA is a plus)

  • 3–5+ years of relevant experience in a financial management or operations role

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, AR/AP, and budgeting

  • Experience building or optimizing financial systems and workflows

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting tools

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
