Job Full Description
Local College is seeking a Temporary Human Resources Assistant to provide essential administrative support to the Human Resources Office during a staffing transition. This position assists with general HR operations, recruitment support, employee onboarding, records management, and other clerical tasks. The role requires professionalism, discretion, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serves as the first point of contact for the HR Office by greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and responding to general inquiries.
- Manages shared email inboxes and coordinates room reservations for HR-related activities.
- Assists with the preparation of human resources communications, correspondence, and documents.
- Maintains accurate and organized personnel files.
- Processes personnel transactions in the Human Resource Information System.
- Supports recruitment efforts including applicant tracking, requisition processing, and onboarding.
- Supports HR initiatives such as benefits fairs, training sessions, and job fairs.
- Monitors office supplies and equipment, processes invoices, and maintains inventory.
- Maintains confidentiality and always handles sensitive information with sound judgment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate’s degree or minimum of 60 completed college credits and at least one year of administrative experience in human resources or related office settings.
- Proficiency with word processing software, spreadsheets, email, and calendaring systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise strong judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn HR processes and procedures in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in human resources.
- Prior experience in a higher education or public sector environment.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), such as Banner or similar platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
