Position Summary
The Secret Shopper is responsible for conducting assigned visits to retail locations that sell alcoholic beverages to observe, document, and report compliance with applicable North Carolina laws, regulations, program requirements, and established operating procedures.
This position requires regular travel to assigned locations, professional interaction with store personnel, careful attention to detail, and accurate completion of inspection or visit documentation. The Field Representative serves as an objective observer and reporter and is expected to conduct each visit consistently, professionally, and without bias.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Travel to assigned retail locations throughout the designated territory and complete scheduled compliance visits.
- Observe and document whether assigned locations are following applicable North Carolina alcoholic beverage control requirements and program procedures.
- Review required permits, licenses, notices, postings, or other compliance-related materials when included within the authorized scope of the program.
- Observe store operations and product displays for compliance with applicable program requirements.
- Complete required checklists, reports, photographs, or other documentation accurately and within established deadlines.
- Identify and objectively document observed compliance concerns or discrepancies.
- Submit findings to the appropriate program supervisor or designated representative for review and follow-up.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with store owners, managers, employees, program personnel, and other individuals encountered while performing assigned duties.
- Protect confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information obtained through the course of assigned work.
- Follow all company safety, confidentiality, reporting, and professional conduct requirements.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the purpose and responsibilities of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age where required by applicable law or by the lawful requirements of the assigned program.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to travel to assigned locations.
- Ability to independently conduct assigned compliance visits and accurately document observations.
- Ability to understand and consistently follow North Carolina ABC compliance guidelines and established program procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, or other required technology to complete and submit field reports.
- Must meet all other lawful, job-related eligibility requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
