POSITION SUMMARY

Express Employment Professionals has partnered with a retail operation located on Grand Forks Air Force Base to hire an Assistant Store Manager. This individual will support the daily operations of the store and assist in supervising staff, managing scheduling, and ensuring a smooth, customer-focused retail experience. The role plays a key part in maintaining efficient operations and upholding high standards of service and performance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support the Store Manager in creating and maintaining employee work schedules to ensure proper staffing during all hours of operation.

  • Assist with supervising a team of 2 to 10 employees.

  • Help with daily sales reconciliation and accounting processes.

  • Support efforts to maintain security of store assets, including inventory and cash.

  • Maintain high-quality customer service and operational standards.

  • Help train and onboard new staff and identify ongoing training opportunities.

  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment; ensure compliance with safety procedures.

  • Conduct outside sales calls to local businesses and maintain a clean and welcoming store appearance.

  • Promote AbilityOne products and assist with special sales events and promotions in coordination with retail leadership.

  • Contribute to merchandising strategies and in-store displays.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal standards, and operational procedures.

  • Foster a positive work environment and support employee morale.

  • Remain flexible and perform additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager or Regional Manager.


REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • College coursework in business is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in retail or related fields.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role required.

  • Merchandising and marketing experience is a plus.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Basic computer skills required.

  • Strong customer service knowledge and ability to meet service standards.

  • Professional demeanor and communication skills.

  • Organizational, mathematical, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Experience in staff supervision and performance evaluation.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (if applicable).

  • Ability to pass DOT certification, physical, and drug screen, if required.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct supervision of 2 to 10 employees.
