Job Description: Safety Manager – Construction Industry
Location: Grand Forks ND
Position Title: Safety Manager

Position Summary:

The Safety Manager will lead and oversee all safety initiatives across construction sites to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong background in construction safety, regulatory compliance, and team training. The Safety Manager will work independently under the general direction of senior leadership and collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and subcontractors to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA)
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
  • Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to employees and subcontractors
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation for compliance and internal review
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety planning into all phases of construction
  • Monitor and report on safety KPIs and trends to senior leadership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related matters on job sites
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement

Experience and Skills Required:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in construction safety management or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, construction safety practices, and risk management
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software
  • Experience conducting safety training and leading incident investigations
  • Professional demeanor with a commitment to safety excellence and team collaboration

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment, scaffolding, excavation, and other construction site hazards
