Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Location: Fosston, MN

Reports To: General Manager


Job Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading all HR functions at the Fosston manufacturing facility. This role supports a diverse workforce and ensures compliance with employment laws while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment. The HR Manager partners closely with the General Manager and leadership team to align HR strategies with business goals.


Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve workplace conflicts.
  • Support union relations and manage grievance procedures.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for hourly and salaried positions.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Partner with department leaders to forecast staffing needs.

Benefits Administration

  • Manage employee benefits including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
  • Oversee open enrollment and assist employees with benefit-related inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, and other regulatory requirements.

Payroll & Compliance

  • Collaborate with payroll teams to ensure accurate processing and deductions.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Administer FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and leave of absence programs.

Training & Development

  • Identify training needs and coordinate employee development initiatives.
  • Support leadership development and succession planning.

HR Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain HRIS data accuracy and generate reports for leadership.
  • Track and analyze HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
