Job Full Description

Position: Mechanical Designer/Engineer

Position Summary:
Express has partnered with a local company to hire a Mechanical Designer. This role involves applying mechanical engineering and design principles to create accurate and manufacturable drawings. The Designer will work through the entire design process—from conceptual models to production-level detailing—ensuring designs meet customer specifications and can be efficiently fabricated.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design products that meet customer needs and manufacturing requirements.

  • Communicate proposed designs for customer approval and fabrication.

  • Optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.

  • Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, and fabrication teams to ensure project success.

  • Generate necessary documentation for production, shipping, and installation.

  • Identify and implement improvements to design and production processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Customize products based on sales orders and customer specifications.

  • Suggest product enhancements that add value for the customer and company.

  • Review drawings to ensure they are manufacturable and free of design conflicts.

  • Coordinate with purchasing for material and component availability.

  • Support creation of installation, operations, and maintenance documentation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical/Architectural Drafting, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency in CAD drafting software.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical design/drafting experience using SolidWorks.

  • Understanding of metal fabrication processes.

  • Experience navigating ERP systems.
