Grand Forks, ND | Full-Time | Exempt
Salary: $55,000 – $65,000

Position Summary

 

The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance & Administration team and plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting and compliance efforts, and helping ensure strong financial stewardship across the organization.

This role offers a collaborative, supportive environment where your work directly contributes to programs and services that positively impact the community.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
  • Maintain prepaid and accrual accounts
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipts functions
  • Reconcile bank accounts, purchase card activity, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and internal reports
  • Support budgeting processes and financial tracking
  • Assist with grant revenue and expenditure reporting to ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Support annual audits and tax filings, including Form 990 preparation
  • Help ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Collaborate with program staff regarding billing, reporting, and expense tracking
  • Assist with payroll support and reconciliations as needed
  • Participate in annual fundraising and charity events
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and fund accounting preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with nonprofit audits and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Paychex payroll systems
