Job Full Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect Metal Workpieces: Roll workpiece on flat surface or mount and rotate it between centers to ascertain irregularities visually or with dial indicator.
• Straighten Metal Parts: Position workpiece on surface plate or anvil and hammer workpiece at points of irregularity to straighten it. Use mandrel to remove dents or kinks from cylindrical objects like pipes or tubing.
• Measure Conformance: Measure straightened workpiece for conformance with specifications using straightedge, micrometers, and calipers.
• Use Specialized Equipment: Operate straightening press and, if necessary, heat workpiece in furnace or with heating torch to straighten it.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections and corrections performed.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous experience in metalworking or a related field.
• Skills: Proficiency with hand tools, measuring instruments, and straightening equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to read blueprints.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.

Work Environment:

• Physical Demands: Requires standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and performing repetitive tasks.
• Safety: Adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

Salary:

• Range: $16-17 per hour, based on experience
