Mailroom Clerk I
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Mailroom Clerk I for a long-term temporary opportunity in the Oklahoma City area.
Job Summary
The Mailroom Clerk will operate and maintain high-volume mail processing equipment, prepare outgoing mail, monitor inventory levels, assist with shipping functions, and troubleshoot equipment issues as needed. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a production-oriented office setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate high-volume printers, mail inserters, postage meters, paper joggers, folders, and other mail processing equipment
- Process large volumes of outgoing mail accurately and efficiently
- Monitor equipment performance and perform basic troubleshooting when issues arise
- Coordinate service requests with equipment vendors and communicate repair status to management
- Refill equipment with paper, ink, sealing fluid, and other supplies throughout the day
- Utilize computer software to print, track, and manage outgoing mail
- Prepare and ship files and packages using shipping software and weighing equipment
- Track inventory levels and request replenishment of critical mailroom supplies
- Coordinate with IT and vendors regarding equipment, software, or network-related issues
- Assist with returned mail processing and other mail center functions as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Mailroom, shipping/receiving, print production, or equipment operation experience preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to learn specialized equipment and software systems
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills highly preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for an entire 8-hour shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting throughout the workday
- Ability to regularly lift 50+ pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds
- Ability to push carts and supplies weighing over 100 pounds
- Comfortable working around continuous machine noise (hearing protection provided)
- Ability to work in a mailroom environment with varying temperatures due to equipment operation
Schedule & Assignment Length
Full-time, Monday through Friday. Long-term temporary assignment with an expected duration of 6–12 months.
