Position Title: Resident Advisor (Dormitory Support Specialist)

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an empathetic, reliable, and observant Resident Advisor to oversee and support young adult students in a structured residential living environment in Guthrie. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining dormitory safety, mentoring residents, providing crisis intervention, and enforcing facility policies. This position is ideal for individuals with backgrounds in public safety, youth mentorship, residential care, or community leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Resident Supervision & Safety: Monitor student activity in the dormitory to ensure a safe, secure, and respectful community environment. Conduct regular room and facility checks.
Mentorship & Guidance: Serve as a positive role model for residents, offering guidance, active listening, and support as they work toward personal, educational, and vocational goals.
De-escalation & Crisis Response: Respond promptly to behavioral concerns, student conflicts, or medical/safety emergencies using proven de-escalation techniques and reporting protocols.
Policy Enforcement: Consistently enforce program rules, curfews, and safety guidelines with fairness, clarity, and professionalism.
Administrative Tracking: Maintain detailed logbooks, document daily shift events, write incident reports, and track resident attendance.
Facility Maintenance Support: Ensure dormitories remain clean, orderly, and compliant with health and safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred).
Previous experience in residential advisory, youth mentorship, public safety, dispatching, or correctional/security environments preferred.
Strong crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to maintain emotional composure and sound decision-making during high-stress or emergency situations.
Basic computer literacy for report generation and record keeping.
Ability to work evening or overnight shifts, including weekends as assigned.
