The Specialty Equipment Technician (Refurbishment) is responsible for the complete diagnosis, teardown, repair, and reconditioning of commercial coffee brewing and espresso systems. Based entirely in our regional depot/shop facility, this bench role focuses on restoring high-volume food service equipment to factory specifications. This position requires strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills, a keen eye for quality control, and the ability to work independently to meet production goals.Job Type: Full-time, Hourly / Non-ExemptLocation: Depot Facility – Oklahoma City / Edmond MetroShift: First Shift (Monday – Friday)Category: Skilled Trades / MaintenanceCore ResponsibilitiesDiagnosis & Troubleshooting: Inspect incoming commercial beverage equipment (traditional/super-automatic espresso machines, thermal brewers, liquid coffee dispensers, and grinders) to diagnose electrical, mechanical, and fluid-system failures.Equipment Reconditioning: Disassemble units to clean, descale boilers, repair or replace defective components (heating elements, water pumps, wiring harnesses, gaskets, and valves), and reassemble to factory standards.Electrical & Plumbing Repair: Utilize multimeters to test low-voltage circuits, repair wiring, and rebuild high-pressure brass fittings and copper water lines.Quality Assurance Testing: Conduct comprehensive multi-point safety and performance testing on all refurbished units, checking for leaks, proper pressure, and accurate temperature calibration before staging for field deployment.Inventory & Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of parts used, record equipment serial numbers, complete digital work orders, and monitor shop inventory levels to ensure necessary components are in stock.Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe bench workspace in compliance with OSHA guidelines and company safety protocols.Required Qualifications & SkillsExperience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in electromechanical repair, appliance repair, commercial equipment maintenance, or a related skilled trade.Technical Skillset: Strong understanding of electrical circuits, low-voltage troubleshooting, and basic plumbing/fluid dynamics (valves, pumps, and pressure lines).Tool Proficiency: Experienced using digital multimeters, hand tools, power tools, and specialized descaling or cleaning equipment.Detail Oriented: Ability to read technical schematics, exploded-view diagrams, and manufacturer service manuals.Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, stand at a repair bench for extended periods, and perform fine-motor tasks with hand tools.Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications or trade school training in electronics, HVAC, or mechanical repair is highly preferred.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Bench Efficiency: Meeting weekly targeted turnaround times for equipment reconditioning.Quality First-Pass Yield: Ensuring refurbished equipment passes all QA tests and safety checks on the first run without requiring rework.Inventory Accuracy: Properly logging parts usage within the shop management system to minimize inventory variance.
