Job Full Description

The Wet End Operator Trainee must follow specified procedures and formulations to convert raw materials into the appropriate pulp slurry that is the base material to be formed in the forming process; accurately and completely document this conversion process; pump the slurry to the correct tank(s); work with the Wet End Operators 1 & 2 to resolve any forming or product quality issues related to the slurry; safely unload and store raw materials and document the receipt of these materials

 Assist Wet End Operator 1 in converting raw materials into the appropriate pulp slurry in as many as 3 hydro pulpers
(beaters):
• Following specified formulas, add the specified quantities of newspaper, kraft, wax, or other specified paper types
to a bin. Ensure the weight of the paper matches the formula specification. Using a forklift, empty these bins into
the appropriate beater, add the specified quantities of chemicals and water in the beater, and operate the beater
to pulverize the mixture into a pulp “beat” within specified parameters.
• Operate controls and timers to properly control pumps, motors, and water or chemical transfer systems.
• Perform any required analytical testing procedures on the slurry and take appropriate remedial actions based on
the results of those tests.
• Measure and record the pH of the batch and add required ingredients, chemicals, or water to adjust the batch pH
until it is within specifications.
• Upon reaching specified consistency and pH levels, pump pulp batch to the appropriate tank.
• Accurately and timely record on a “Beat Sheet,” in the actual sequence as operations are performed, the actual usage
of raw materials, and all other required documentation during the scheduled shift; complete any other required
documentation; perform mathematical calculations as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
• 1-year recent experience as a forklift operator.
• Highly developed mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and problem resolution skills.
• Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability, and desire to work well with others in a team environment.
• Basic mathematical aptitude and skills; English writing skills.
• Consistent and reliable attendance.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.
