Job Full Description
The Seed Enhancement Line Lead is a committed and communicative leader who oversees the seed enhancement production line. This role will be critical in the production of enhanced seed by monitoring input levels, programming seed enhancement machines (PLCs) with recipes, ensuring accurate production, effectively communicating with all production line personnel and managers, and leading staff on the production line.
The Seed Enhancement Line Lead is responsible for overseeing the seed coating process, ensuring the availability of necessary raw materials, monitoring and adjusting coating recipes, and maintaining the quality and efficiency of the production line. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the overall integrity of the coating process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure the availability of the correct raw materials required for each order is staged in the appropriate location. This includes seeds, glue, lime, etc.
· Access and use recipes in the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) for coating processes.
· Perform machine calibrations as needed.
· Observe the coating process and makes recipe adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
· Monitor the quality, uniformity, and durability of seed coming out of the scalper.
· Monitor data outputs on the production line, including seed temperature from touch screens. This may require manual temperature checks.
· Check paperwork and tags to ensure the correct order and to identify and rectify errors.
· Clean equipment when changing seed types.
· Work closely with manager to learn the intricacies of the role and assist in the training process.
· Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma.
· Previous experience in seed coating line operations preferred but not required.
· 2+ years’ experience working in a lab or on a detailed production line.
· Ability to read and verify tagging information.
· Ability to follow instructions and learn the seed coating line process.
· Organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Dependable.
· Ability to work overtime hours as necessary.
· Ability to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
