Job Description: Temporary Behavioral Health Technician

Position Summary

The Temporary Behavioral Health Technician supports clients by addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) that impact behavioral health outcomes. This role serves as the primary point of contact for screenings, referrals, and case management, ensuring individuals are connected to appropriate community resources. The technician works closely with treatment teams, social service agencies, and community partners to provide coordinated care and reduce barriers to wellness.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct SDOH screenings to assess housing, food access, transportation, employment, financial stability, safety, and other social needs.

  • Identify social risk factors and develop individualized action plans to address them through targeted referrals.

  • Initiate, coordinate, and track referrals to community-based resources; ensure follow-up through warm handoffs to partnering agencies.

  • Provide ongoing case management support to monitor client progress and connect them to additional services as needed.

  • Collaborate with treatment teams, schools, and social service agencies to ensure comprehensive care coordination.

  • Support community outreach efforts to increase awareness of behavioral health and social service programs.

  • Maintain accurate records, document client interactions, and ensure compliance with departmental and state documentation requirements.

  • Utilize Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) to record screenings, track referrals, and communicate with care team members (Epic EHR experience preferred).

  • Prepare reports, charts, and other documentation in accordance with departmental, state, and federal guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental needs.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND three years of relevant professional experience; OR an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple systems.

  • Experience in case management, behavioral health, or social services preferred.

  • Familiarity with Epic EHR strongly preferred.

 

Compensation & Work Environment

  • Pay Rate: $27.17 per hour

  • Temporary position; schedule and duration may vary based on departmental needs.

  • Majority of shift involves sitting, with periods of standing and moving around the office environment.
