Equipment Operator, Light
📍 Location: Bend, OR
💲 Pay: $25.75/hour
🕒 Schedule: Typically four 10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Equipment Operator to join a local transfer station and landfill operations team in Bend. This role combines equipment operation, customer service, and hands-on site support. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, operating light equipment, and being part of a team that helps keep operations running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate light automotive, construction, earthmoving, and road equipment
- Perform a variety of manual labor tasks related to solid waste disposal activities
- Work independently or as part of a crew on assigned projects
- Complete pre- and post-equipment inspections and maintain required documentation
- Open and close the transfer station as needed
- Assist customers with directions, recycling information, disposal procedures, and fees
- Monitor customer safety and provide traffic control
- Conduct waste screening to identify prohibited materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company and safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to stand, walk, and work actively throughout a 10-hour shift
- Ability to safely operate equipment, vehicles, and tools
- Experience performing basic equipment maintenance and inspections
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a comprehensive drug screen
- Ability to pass a background check
