Job Full Description
A high-impact opportunity for an experienced financial leader. We are partnering with an award-winning design firm and its affiliated companies in the search for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations, support HR, benefits, insurance, compliance, and administrative functions.
This is a high-visibility, hands-on leadership role where you'll work closely with ownership and existing staff while taking responsibility for financial reporting, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and multi-state compliance.
What You'll Do!
Accounting & Financial Leadership
• Oversee financial operations and accounting processes for two affiliated companies.
• Manage accounts receivable in Sage 100, including invoicing, payment application, reconciliations, and collections.
• Review and oversee the work of the existing financial data entry/AP team member.
• Oversee bookkeeping and expense tracking in QuickBooks.
• Manage month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements, and management reporting.
• Lead cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate financial records.
• Establish and maintain effective internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Serve as the primary financial resource and business partner to ownership.
• Prepare year-end financial records and supporting documentation for the outside CPA.
Insurance, Compliance & Construction
• Manage business insurance programs, including general liability and professional liability/E&O, in coordination with brokers and carriers.
• Oversee multi-state business compliance, including foreign entity registrations, business and contractor licensing, and renewals.
• Manage construction lien requirements, including preliminary notices, lien waivers/releases, and mechanic's lien filings and deadlines.
• Maintain organized records of licenses, registrations, insurance, and compliance filings.
HR & Benefits
• Manage day-to-day HR administration, including onboarding and personnel records.
• Coordinate with outsourced payroll and 401(k) providers.
• Administer employee benefits, bonus programs, and profit-sharing programs.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and financial information.
General Administration
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors regarding contracts, purchase orders, and follow-up.
• Maintain organized financial, HR, and business records.
• Prepare and proofread financial and business reports and documents.
• Support ownership and the design team with financial and administrative needs.
• Assist with process improvements and other business projects as needed.
What You Bring
• 5+ years of full-cycle accounting or Controller-level experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
• Experience with Sage 100 or comparable accounting software required.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, cash flow, and internal controls.
• QuickBooks and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace proficiency.
• HR, payroll, and benefits experience preferred.
• Experience with business insurance and multi-state compliance preferred.
• Construction lien administration experience strongly preferred.
• Experience preparing records for an outside CPA/tax preparer.
• Exceptional organization, accuracy, communication, and discretion.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and take ownership.
• Comfortable in a small-company environment where collaboration and a hands-on approach are valued.

Work Requirements & Schedule
• Full-time role, primarily onsite in Bend office
• At least 6 hours per day onsite between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday
