Grinder
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Grinder to join our manufacturing team. The primary responsibility of this role is removing excess metal from aluminum castings using a variety of grinding and finishing equipment. Successful candidates will have strong attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work safely in a production environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate grinding equipment including:
Belt sanders
Abrasive wheels
Pneumatic hand tools such as Dynafiles
Remove excess metal from aluminum castings according to specifications.
Inspect workpieces for defects and ensure quality standards are met.
Select appropriate abrasive belts based on material, finish requirements, and amount of metal removal needed.
Move barrels of castings using a hand truck.
Perform minor equipment maintenance, including changing abrasive belts.
Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures during maintenance activities.
Complete production assignments within established timeframes.
Maintain accurate production and quality paperwork.
Perform daily housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Follow all company safety rules, policies, and quality standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety Requirements
Employees must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including:
Safety glasses
Safety shoes
Hearing protection
Gloves
All machine guards must remain in place during equipment operation.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
Previous manufacturing, grinding, or metal finishing experience preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate industrial equipment.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
Good dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in an environment with varying temperatures, dust, and noise levels.

Ideal Candidate
