Job Full Description
Machine AttendantDepartment: Fulling/Dyehouse Reports To: Production SupervisorPosition SummaryThe Machine Attendant is responsible for operating one or more hat-blocking machines to provide the initial shape and size of felt hats during the production process. This position requires attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to maintain quality standards while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperate two to four hat-blocking machines in accordance with established production and quality standards.Position hats onto machine blocks and ensure proper alignment for shaping.Use foot pedal controls and machine adjustments to accurately position blocking teeth and hat brims.Secure hats using machine clamps and operating levers.Activate and monitor the stretching and shaping process to achieve required specifications.Remove finished hats from the machine and stack or stage completed products for the next production step.Inspect products for proper size, shape, and overall quality.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.Follow all company safety procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements.Assist with material movement and production support activities as needed.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods throughout the work shift.Frequent use of hands, wrists, and arms to operate machine controls and levers.Regular bending, twisting, reaching, and turning motions.Operation of foot-controlled machine functions.Ability to handle and move production materials and finished products.Ability to work in a warm manufacturing environment.Repetitive manual motions throughout the workday.QualificationsSkills and AbilitiesStrong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.Attention to detail and commitment to product quality.Ability to follow work instructions and safety procedures.Ability to work efficiently in a production environment.Dependable attendance and a positive team-oriented attitude.ExperiencePrevious manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.On-the-job training provided.Ability to learn job requirements within approximately 7 to 18 weeks.Â
