Lead Steel Welder (MIG)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Steel Welder to join our growing manufacturing team. This position is ideal for a skilled MIG welder who enjoys leading by example, mentoring employees, and ensuring high-quality fabrication standards are met.
As a Lead Welder, you will play a critical role in overseeing daily welding operations, supporting production goals, training team members, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. If you have strong welding expertise and proven leadership experience, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and support welders and fabricators on the production floor.
Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching to improve skills and performance.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
Assist with production planning and workflow coordination to meet deadlines.
Welding & Fabrication
Perform MIG welding on structural steel components and trailer assemblies.
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.
Set up and adjust welding equipment, fixtures, and jigs.
Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality and customer standards.
Troubleshoot welding and fabrication issues and implement corrective actions.
Safety & Quality
Ensure all work meets company quality standards and production requirements.
Enforce PPE and workplace safety policies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
Collaborate with fabrication, assembly, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement.
Equipment & Tools
Experience with the following is preferred:
MIG Welding Equipment
Shears
Brakes
Punches
Saws
Forklifts
Overhead Cranes
Qualifications
Proven MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or structural steel environment.
Previous Lead Welder, Welding Supervisor, or team leadership experience preferred.
Strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
Knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, and shop equipment.
Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
