Machine Operator - Pellet Mill Operator
Pay: $20.00 per hourShift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PMJob Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Machine Operator - Pellet Mill Operator to join our production team. This position is responsible for operating pellet mill and batching equipment, monitoring production processes, blending ingredients according to formulas, and ensuring products meet quality, safety, and production standards. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting equipment, working hands-on with machinery, and maintaining efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, and adjust pellet mill and batching equipment to maintain efficient production flow.
Follow production formulas and accurately mix raw materials and feed ingredients, including grains, protein meals, vitamins, minerals, fats, and specialty additives.
Verify ingredient sequencing and production schedules to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
Perform routine equipment inspections and identify mechanical issues before they impact production.
Troubleshoot operational problems and make minor mechanical adjustments to optimize machine performance.
Monitor temperatures, moisture levels, pellet quality, and equipment performance throughout the manufacturing process.
Complete production records, quality checks, and required documentation accurately and timely.
Maintain housekeeping standards and keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Assist with preventive maintenance activities and communicate equipment concerns to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
Operate forklifts and other plant equipment safely (forklift certification required or willing to obtain).
Cross-train and provide support in other production areas as needed.
Participate in safety meetings, food safety programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Report product quality concerns, process deviations, and safety hazards immediately.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Prior manufacturing, feed mill, agricultural, grain handling, or machine operating experience preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and recognize potential mechanical issues.
Basic computer and math skills.
Ability to read production schedules, formulas, and operating procedures.
Forklift experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
Physical Requirements
Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift.
Climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, and access elevated equipment.
Work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, dust, noise, and weather conditions.
