Blast Room Operator
Position Overview
The Blast Room Operator is responsible for preparing metal products for coating by operating blasting equipment and ensuring surfaces meet required preparation standards. This role requires knowledge of various blasting methods, safe equipment operation, production scheduling, and quality requirements. The operator is expected to work efficiently in a manufacturing environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity. Key Responsibilities
Blasting Operations
- Operate a variety of surface preparation equipment including:
- Monorail blast systems
- Tumbler blast systems
- Hand blast rooms
- Cabinet blasters
- Vibratory tubs
- Select appropriate blasting methods based on material type and product specifications.
- Understand how different metals respond to blasting processes and avoid damage to sensitive materials such as aluminum and stainless steel.

Production and Process Efficiency
- Manage workload effectively to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Identify the safest and most efficient methods for processing material.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

Quality Control
- Follow recognized industry surface preparation standards, including:

- Commercial Blast
- Brush-Off Blast

Documentation and Housekeeping
- Complete production documentation accurately and thoroughly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe blast room environment.
- Keep floors and work areas free of shot, debris, and other hazards.
