Machinist (Level 2 / Level 3)
Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hourSchedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PMEmployment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, process improvements, and ensuring all parts meet required specifications and tight tolerances. The ideal candidate will have experience with precision machining, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting and mentoring production operators.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
Edit programs and machine parameters as required.
Ensure all parts meet engineering specifications and quality requirements.
Maintain production efficiency while minimizing scrap and downtime.
Perform machine inspections and verify product quality.
Required Equipment Experience
Centerless Grinding (setup and program editing)
Double Disc Finish (setup and program editing)
Core Drill (setup and program editing)
Surface Grinding (setup)
STC/Mill (setup)
Cylindrical Grinding (setup)
MWS (setup)
Wire EDM (WEDM) (setup)
Advanced Machining Functions
Set up and troubleshoot:
Hone
Koyo
Centerless Grind
CNC Drill
Perform mechanical inspections.
Troubleshoot mechanical, quality, and process-related issues.
Assist with machine repairs and preventive maintenance.
Process Improvement & Quality
Monitor and improve process efficiencies.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve production issues.
Maintain tolerances ranging from .0008" to .0005", with the ability to achieve tolerances below .0005" independently.
Document and improve setup procedures and standard work instructions.
Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and production standards.
Leadership & Training
Train and mentor Operators, Machinists I, and Machinists II.
Support team development through hands-on coaching and technical guidance.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required
Previous machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and inspection documents.
Strong understanding of precision measurement tools and quality standards.
Ability to maintain tight tolerances and perform detailed inspections.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred
CNC programming or G-Code editing experience.
Experience with honing, centerless grinding, CNC drilling, and grinding operations.
Preventive maintenance and machine repair experience.
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
