Utility Machine Operator
Job Overview
We are seeking a versatile Utility Machine Operator to support manufacturing operations by providing machine coverage, operator training, and cross-functional support across all shifts. This role is ideal for an experienced manufacturing professional who can quickly adapt to multiple production processes while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
The Utility Machine Operator will provide relief coverage for machine operators during PTO and other absences, assist with onboarding and cross-training, evaluate operator skills, and help maintain efficient production throughout the facility.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate multiple manufacturing machines at a proficient level, including: 
    • Multi-Wire Drawing Machine 
    • Buncher 
    • Twister 
    • Windak 
    • CV Extruder 
  • Provide machine coverage for vacations, PTO, and other employee absences on any shift. 
  • Support cross-training efforts by providing operator coverage during training. 
  • Deliver remedial and refresher training to machine operators as needed. 
  • Assist with technical evaluations and skills assessments of operators in training. 
  • Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain product quality by following established operating procedures. 
  • Report production issues, quality concerns, or equipment problems to management or the Quality Team. 
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and production teams across shifts. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Manager or Manufacturing Production Manager. 
Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing machine operating experience required. 
  • Experience operating multiple types of industrial manufacturing equipment preferred. 
  • Ability to learn and operate several production processes. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. 
  • Ability to train and mentor fellow operators. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
  • Ability to work any shift as business needs require. 
  • Valid driver's license required. 
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently use hands and fingers for machine operation. 
  • Ability to distinguish colors and maintain visual attention to detail. 
  • Ability to hear and communicate clearly in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 
  • Push or pull up to 250 pounds with assistance. 
  • Stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift. 
  • Frequently bend, stoop, twist, reach, and crawl when necessary. 
  • Climb stairs throughout the facility. 
  • Work around moving machinery, vibration, and airborne particles. 
  • Maintain good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. 
  • Perform general housekeeping duties including sweeping and cleaning work areas. 
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing facility with light to moderate noise levels. 
  • Hearing and eye protection required. 
  • Steel-toe footwear required. 
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and industrial working conditions. 
  • Safety is a top priority, and all EHS policies must be followed at all times.
