Experienced Accountant - Nonprofit
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Pay: $50,000 - $60,000 per year

About the Opportunity
Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Accountant to support a nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, nonprofit financial experience, and the ability to manage full-cycle accounting operations while ensuring compliance and financial accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- At least 5 years of accounting experience
- At least 3 years of QuickBooks experience
- Experience with nonprofit accounting preferred
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting operations including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Process payroll (preferred experience)
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for leadership
- Manage restricted and unrestricted fund accounting
- Develop and monitor annual budgets and variance analyses
- Coordinate audit preparation and external auditor requests
- Ensure compliance with IRS requirements, Form 990 reporting, and grant requirements
- Strengthen internal controls and financial processes
- Supervise and train accounting staff
- Record accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenues, and expenses in QuickBooks
- Perform bank reconciliations and journal entries
- Generate financial statements and variance reports
- Respond to stakeholder inquiries
- Perform financial analysis and forecasting
- Develop financial dashboards and reporting tools
- Create and formalize internal control and reconciliation procedures
- Provide written variance summaries and process improvement recommendations
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Experience
- Preparation and filing of tax returns including Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, and 990
