Job Summary
Our client in the Rankin area is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Drafter / Structural Steel Detailer to support commercial construction projects through the preparation of shop drawings, field installation drawings, and project documentation.
This position is ideal for someone with structural steel, steel deck, roof panel, wall panel, or related construction drafting experience.
What You Will Do
- Prepare detailed shop drawings for steel deck, accessories, and related products
- Create field installation drawings using AutoCAD
- Develop plan layouts and sectional details for commercial building structures
- Review project specifications and contract documents
- Verify project files and production documentation
- Check drawings and prepare cut lists from approved shop drawings
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and fabricators
- Communicate with customers regarding drawings and project specifications
- Assist with reviewing fabrication documents and bills of materials
- Participate in drafting and technical training programs
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of structural steel, steel deck, roof panel, wall panel, or related industry experience
- 2-5 years of drafting experience preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Understanding of construction documents and specifications
- General knowledge of math and trigonometry
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate Degree in AutoCAD/Drafting preferred
