CNC Operator Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled CNC operators to help turn design blueprints into precise metal or wooden components. Successful candidates will be analytical, detail-oriented individuals with a strong understanding of CNC machinery and an ability to maximize equipment performance and productivity.

Objectives

  • Create wooden or metal parts and components by following design blueprints.
  • Master the CNC operating system for seamless and efficient work.
  • Demonstrate strong software skills, ideally including expertise with “V-Carve” or similar CNC programming tools.
  • Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and best practices.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of CNC operations, from design and setup through to production.

Responsibilities

  • Change collets, tool inserts, tool blocks, and tool holders as needed.
  • Adjust machine settings, including offset wear and geometry, for optimal performance.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance as instructed.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain one or more CNC machines.
  • Utilize computer programming and CAD/CAM skills to support CNC programming and production (preferred).
  • Modify programs directly at the control panel when necessary.
  • Monitor daily CNC machine performance and ensure smooth workflows.
  • Lead and execute machine test runs to validate program accuracy.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure precise adherence to design blueprints.
  • Maintain detailed records of machine operation and production metrics.
  • Oversee stock inventory and manage the procurement of parts and materials.
  • Translate instructions and design files into accurate machine commands.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a CNC operator.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in interpreting design blueprints and 3D drawings.
  • Solid knowledge of mathematics and mechanical principles.
  • Competence in software and computer-based tasks.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in engineering or a related field.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Goal-oriented approach and a strong work ethic.

Shifts: 

We currently have 4 different shifts available - must be open to working weekends and 6 hour shifts!
