Asset Manager

BASIC FUNCTIONS

The basic function of the Asset Manager is to manage and coordinate the efficient placement and tracking of van and flatbed trailers used in operations across the U.S. and Mexico. This includes trailers dropped at customer locations and those in use by contract carriers.


REQUIREMENTS

1 Education:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • (Preferred) Additional education and knowledge for tracking assets and related equipment.

2 Experience:

  • Minimum of two years managing and tracking equipment or related facilities.

3 Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Excellent problem-solving and basic management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, MS Office Suite, and transportation industry software.

  • Experience with trailer telematics, GPS-based location tracking platforms, and integration of dispatch/maintenance systems preferred.

 

5 Licensing & Certification:

  • Valid driver’s license.


RESPONSIBILITIES

1 Maintain up-to-date trailer availability for customers.
2 Coordinate trailer pickups for Mexican carriers.
3 Follow up on southbound activity, including border crossing coordination.
4 Update system orders for northbound and southbound loads.
5 Manage and update empty trailer moves into Mexico from border locations.
6 Track and manage trailer demurrage and detention.
7 Ensure no trailers enter Mexico with expired CVI or registration.
8 Responsible for tracking trailer utilization by contract carriers.

9 Strategically position trailers to optimize availability, minimize dwell time, and ensure efficiency for NB/SB freight.


DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Check daily with customers for trailer needs.

  • Monitor trailer GPS to ensure accurate location.

  • Provide accurate weekly trailer status reports.

  • Update system with comments and delivery status.

  • Check with the Shop daily for equipment readiness.

  • Monitor load actualization in the system.

  • Issue PO numbers to Mexican carriers.

  • Create empty moves once trailers arrive at carrier terminals.

  • Assist with document imaging and phone coverage.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

  • Assist others as needed.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
