Job Title: Financial Specialist III

Department: Finance

Position Summary

Provides professional-level accounting support with a focus on accounts receivable and financial reporting. Assists with day-to-day accounting functions, reconciliations, data analysis, and year-end reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze financial data for accuracy, compliance, trends, and anomalies

  • Examine accounts receivable statements and general ledger accounts

  • Input and maintain data in accounting systems and spreadsheets

  • Inputs data in computerized accounting systems (MIP & UMS) and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Imports data from Utility Management Systems (UMS) to Abila MIP fund accounting system on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain financial ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation

  • Prepare invoices, cash receipts, bank deposits, and reconciliations

  • Import and reconcile data between financial and utility management systems

  • Assist with budget tracking and reporting

  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries

  • Perform senior-level clerical and administrative support tasks

  • Operate standard office equipment

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (minimum 20 semester / 30 quarter accounting credits) and 2 years of professional accounting experience; OR

  • Associate degree in accounting with required credits and 4 years of professional accounting or auditing experience; OR

  • High school diploma/GED and 6 years of professional accounting experience with required college-level accounting coursework

Applicants must be bondable. Accounting transcripts required. Candidates must pass a basic accounting test.

  • Basic business writing and verbal communication

  • Mathematical calculations including percentages and interest

  • Practical problem-solving and reasoning skills

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily sedentary work with occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs occasionally)

  • Frequent close-up reading, data entry, and computer use

Work Environment

  • Office environment with moderate noise

  • Occasional exposure to mechanical equipment or airborne particles
