Accountant
A well-established tax and accounting firm is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team in the Morgantown, WV area. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on tax preparation experience who enjoys working directly with clients and managing multiple deadlines during tax season. Schedule is Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm -- even during tax season!
Responsibilities
- Prepare individual and business tax returns accurately and efficiently.
- Review financial records, income statements, deductions, and supporting documentation.
- Assist clients with tax-related questions and provide professional guidance.
- Research tax issues and stay current on applicable federal and state tax regulations.
- Identify potential deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and organized client files and documentation.
- Communicate with clients regarding missing information, tax questions, and return status.
- Assist with accounting and other tax-related projects as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
Requirements
- Previous experience preparing tax returns is required.
- Experience with individual and/or business tax returns preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
- Accounting, Finance, or related degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax/accounting software.
