Location: Texarkana, AR

Hours: M-F, full time

Pay: $45-50K Annually, DOE

 

The Development Officer is responsible for cultivating, maintaining, and expanding relationships that increase the resources available to the Food Bank. This position plays a key role in developing financial, in-kind, corporate, individual, media, and community partnerships that support the organization’s mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead staff member for sponsored events, including Taste of Texarkana, Hunger Action Month Luncheon, Wine and Jazz, and other fundraising and community events.
  • Coordinate and participate in involvement in community-sponsored benefits, food drives, fundraising campaigns, and other outreach activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with corporate partners, individual donors, community organizations, media contacts, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of corporate and individual donors using donor management software.
  • Coordinate and implement donor stewardship efforts designed to strengthen existing relationships, encourage long-term engagement, and increase financial support.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to maintain the organization’s website and ensure content is current, accurate, and engaging.
  • Assist with planning and executing direct mail campaigns, donor communications, newsletters, and other organizational publications.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director to manage and expand presence across social media platforms, regional publications, community calendars, and other media outlets.
  • Assist with developing promotional materials and communications that increase awareness of programs, events, and community impact.
  • Recruit, coordinate, and communicate with volunteers for special events and on-site volunteer opportunities.
  • Represent professionally at community events, meetings, networking opportunities, and other functions.
  • Travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities and attend occasional regional or national meetings, conferences, and training opportunities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2–5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with DonorPerfect or other donor management/fundraising software preferred.
  • Experience with Canva, Photoshop, or other graphic design/creative software preferred.
  • Experience managing social media platforms, newsletters, websites, email marketing, or other communication and marketing tools preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and events while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills with the ability to communicate effectively with donors, businesses, volunteers, community leaders, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff and community partners.
