Last Updated: August 4, 2021 Job Description Company: Jonathan Louis International Department: 345 Receiving Job Title: Supervisor, Shipping FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Manager, Logistics Location: San Diego Warehouse Job Summary:The Supervisor, Shipping supervises and coordinates activities of the shipping and receiving teams, engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment. Job Responsibilities: Ensures on time, accurate product deliveries to customers Ensures that all transactions are properly and timely documented in the ERP system Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to work areas Performs supervisor duties which include but are not limited to hiring, assessing and making improvements where necessary. Responsible for shipping and receiving area safety and equipment Assist workers in shipping and receiving activities Develop methods and procedures for transportation of raw materials to processing and production areas and transportation of products from departments to customers, warehoused or other storage facilities Maintains receiving and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures Complies with federal, state, and local receiving, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions Safeguards shipping/receiving operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols Completes shipping/receiving operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results. Distributes workload to team to ensure accurate and timely completion Qualifications (Experience/Education): A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role Expertise in establishing and using modern ERP systems: Inventory Management, Warehousing and Distribution Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) Self -sufficient and an independent problem solver Experience in applying Lean Manufacturing methods Bilingual- Spanish speaking required WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS SUMMARY: The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
