Job Full Description
Primary responsibilities:
- Work independently to utilize cultural and rapid methodologies (real-time PCR, etc.) to identify pathogens, indicators, and spoilage organisms in food, water, and environmental samples
- Proactively managing the laboratory personnel to ensure adherence to protocols and values
- Interacting with clients by communicating test results, answering questions, and sending sampling supplies based on their needs
- Developing, maintaining, and measuring processes to increase the accuracy of turn-around-time for results
- Ensuring implementation of QA/QC program with regards to all operations and documentation requirements
- Provide training to new personnel, as well as coaching and mentoring to facilitate the staff’s professional and personal growth
- On occasion, travel to satellite laboratories to assist with laboratory coverage and supplemental trainings
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors degree in Microbiology, plus hands-on laboratory experience. Work experience should include knowledge of sterile technique and pure culture maintenance. The candidate must have proven problem solving and trouble shooting skills along with strong verbal and written communication in English (Spanish capabilities a plus). Strong time management, organizational and people skills are highly desired. Must have flexible work schedule, including weekends. Some travel is required.
