SolidWorks Draftsman / Mechanical CAD Designer

Position Summary
We are seeking an entry- to mid-level designer to support ongoing engineering and product development initiatives. This role will work closely with the engineering team to create, maintain, and update 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings used for internal development, customer deliverables, and regulatory or government approval.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using SolidWorks in a production environment and demonstrate strong technical drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support designs from concept through manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
· Translate engineering concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate 3D models, assemblies, and detailed technical drawings using SolidWorks
· Support new product designs through development, prototyping, and transition into production
· Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, written descriptions, and bills of materials (BOMs)
· Design, build, and test prototypes efficiently to support product development timelines
· Update and revise existing models and drawings to support product improvements and change requests
· Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs align with production requirements
Qualifications
· 1–2 years of professional experience using SolidWorks in a drafting or mechanical design role
· Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) or higher preferred
· Proficiency with SolidWorks configurations, large assemblies, complex part modeling, and drawing creation
· Demonstrated understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
· Experience working with electronics, basic mechanical systems, and 3D printing technologies
· Ability to research and evaluate design solutions independently
· Portfolio demonstrating technical drawings, including exploded views and detailed assemblies
Preferred / Desired Skills
· Experience managing drawing revisions and version control using SolidWorks Vault
· Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
· Strong organizational and documentation skills
· Familiarity with Excel and Adobe Acrobat
