Job Title: Seed Lab Support Technician (TEMPORARY CONTRACTOR)
Position Summary:
The Seed Lab Support Technician (Planting) is responsible for supporting daily seed lab operations with a primary focus on planting activities. This role ensures accurate, timely, and consistent planting of seed samples for testing and evaluation. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow standardized procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Working Conditions:
• Seed lab and/or greenhouse setting
• May involve exposure to soil, dust, and plant materials
• Use of basic lab or agricultural equipment
How you will contribute (Duties & Responsibilities):
• Perform planting of seed samples according to established protocols and schedules
• Label, organize, and track seed samples to ensure accuracy and traceability
• Prepare planting materials (soil, trays, pots, labels, etc.)
• Maintain proper spacing, depth, and planting conditions per instructions
• Assist with watering, monitoring, and basic care of planted materials as needed
• Record planting data and complete required documentation accurately
• Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and equipment
• Dispose of non-recyclable and plant waste according to site procedures
• Support additional seed lab tasks as assigned (e.g., sample handling, counts, setup)
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25–40 lbs. as needed
• Comfortable working in indoor lab and/or greenhouse environments
• Ability to perform repetitive hand movements (planting, labeling, handling seeds)
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience in agriculture, lab work, greenhouse, or production environment is a plus
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic data recording and documentation skills
Additional Information:
• This is a temporary contract position with assignment length based on business needs
• Schedule may vary depending on planting cycles and workload
