Warehouse Order Builder / Packer
Job Summary
The Warehouse Order Builder / Packer is responsible for accurately packaging, building, and preparing fresh produce orders for shipment while maintaining quality, food safety, and productivity standards. This position works in a refrigerated warehouse environment and may rotate between packing and order building duties based on operational needs. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Package produce according to customer specifications, including quantity, weight, and labeling requirements.
- Build customer orders using pick tickets and/or Warehouse Management System (WMS) instructions.
- Accurately pick, sort, inspect, and pack produce while maintaining company quality and food safety standards.
- Assemble corrugated boxes and prepare packaging materials as needed.
- Apply labels accurately to products, bags, boxes, and pallets.
- Build, wrap, and stage pallets for shipment according to loading schedules.
- Perform quality control inspections to verify order accuracy, product condition, and proper packaging before shipment.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as electric pallet jacks, pallet jacks, forklifts (when authorized), and handheld scanners or WMS devices.
- Receive and verify work assignments, follow pick tickets, and update inventory or order status through the WMS when applicable.
- Rotate between workstations and assist with packing, order building, palletizing, and other warehouse functions as business needs require.
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged product, equipment concerns, or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Wash and sanitize bins, clean workstations, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the shift.
- Follow all company safety policies, food safety procedures, and sanitation requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by warehouse management.

- Previous warehouse, packing, manufacturing, or produce handling experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a refrigerated warehouse environment (approximately 34°–45°F) for the duration of the shift.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier produce boxes as required.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified).
- Comfortable working around moving equipment and warehouse traffic.
Work Environment
- Refrigerated produce warehouse.
- Fast-paced production environment with productivity expectations.
- Exposure to cold temperatures, wet conditions, moving mechanical equipment, and moderate warehouse noise.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices are required at all times.
