LOCAL LUMBER COMPANY IN SOLANO COUNTY IS SEEKING A PURCHASING ASSISTANT! THIS IS A LONG TERM OPPORTUINTY AND THE PAYS IS $20.00 - $24.00 AN HOUR DOE!
Job Functions:
- Establish and maintain measurable performance for all levels of procurement.
- Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support the critical business needs.
- Will directly manage key deliverable including cost, quality, and service of materials.
- Responsible for the direction of the materials management and purchasing function to achieve service and inventory goals, as well as the development of best-in-class processes to drive service level improvement.
- Assist in researching and identifying suppliers/vendors for lumber, plywood, dimensional lumber, timbers, or related materials.
- Place purchase orders, track shipments, and ensure timely delivery while monitoring inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstock.
- Communicate with vendors/suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate basic terms (under supervision), resolve discrepancies, and maintain strong relationships.
- Conduct market research on lumber prices, availability, and trends; analyze data to support procurement decisions.
- Handle administrative tasks like processing purchase orders, receiving, running cycle counts, coordinating logistics/transportation, and preparing reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., sales, operations, warehouse) to align purchases with company needs.
- All other duties/special projects as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for vendor interactions.
- Analytical abilities to research markets, compare prices, and process information.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Minimum of a year of purchasing and/or receiving experience
