Position Summary

The Loan Specialist is responsible for assisting individuals in securing loans by assessing applications, gathering financial information, and ensuring an efficient process from application through closing. This role involves coordinating with clients, lenders, and title companies, processing various loan types, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with loan applications, follow-ups, and processing through closing.
  • Manage incomplete applications, track progress, and maintain accurate records.
  • Create and maintain client loan files, ensuring all required documentation is complete.
  • Calculate client Area Median Income (AMI) and ensure adherence to income guidelines.
  • Review initial loan approvals and collaborate with borrowers to obtain required documentation.
  • Collect and verify documentation for complete loan packages.
  • Explain program processes and services clearly to clients.
  • Develop and maintain lending partnerships while executing lending activities.
  • Communicate with clients, lenders, and title companies to facilitate a smooth loan process.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure successful loan closings.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
  • Prepare and submit client information for accounting setup and internal review.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit required monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to pass a federal, state, and county criminal background check.
  • Strong communication skills with clients, stakeholders, and coworkers.
  • Knowledge of lending regulations, policies, and loan types.
  • Customer-service oriented with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in loan processing, mortgage lending, or financial services preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Colorado Title Insurance Producer License required.
  • Notary Public Certification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Manual dexterity for data entry and use of office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read and interpret documents (digital and paper).
  • Ability to lift and/or move items over 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent interaction with employees and the public, including meetings and phone communication.
  • Ability to hear and respond to alarms and verbal communications.
